Royal Burgundy is a bush snap bean with purple pods about 5 to 6 inches long. Begin checking for smooth, tender pods around 50–55 days after direct sowing; conditions can extend this toward 65 days. The purple pods turn green when cooked.

Direct sow after the last frost when soil is at least 60°F and warming. Sow 1 inch deep, thin to 4–6 inches apart, and leave 18–24 inches between rows. Warm soil around 70–85°F promotes emergence; allow about 5–10 days under favorable conditions and longer in cool ground. Use full sun and well-drained soil.
